Tossing a sofa "the old way" is no longer an option in Brussels. Here is the up-to-date framework for early 2026, to avoid fines and find the right stream.

Regional Recyparks

Two regional sites run by Bruxelles-Propreté / Net Brussel accept residents with proof of domicile. Some municipalities also run their own park.

ℹ️ Opening hours and closures 2026

Hours vary by day and season. Check bruxelles-proprete.be on the day itself — several exceptional closures due to works have been announced for 2026.

Quotas to know

  • 2 m³ free per household per day — beyond that: paid
  • Asbestos: max 5 sheets per visit, double-wrapped
  • Tyres: max 4, only with proof of recent local purchase

Dedicated streams (not accepted at standard Recypark)

Sorting bins at a Brussels recycling centre
Each stream has its own bin. Incorrect sorting can result in on-the-spot refusal.
  • Damaged asbestos cement: accredited contractor only
  • Fuel tank: degassing + Brugel certificate
  • Large appliances: Recupel
  • Paint, solvents, batteries: specific collection points

⚠️ Illegal dumping: up to €350 fine

CCTV covers Recypark perimeters and residential streets. First-offence fines reach €350; repeat offences are referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office.

💡 The 2-photo test

Take photos of your volume from 3 angles. If you can clearly see more than 3–4 m³, a professional intervention is likely faster and cheaper than queuing at the Recypark with its quotas.
