A successful clearance is won before the team arrives. Here is our field checklist, refined over more than a thousand interventions in Brussels.

💡 Use this checklist in 4 phases

D-30 for the legal framework, D-14 for physical preparation, D-7 for Brussels logistics (signs, lift) and D-day for on-site follow-up.

📋 D-30: legal and administrative

  • Signed notarial inventory or written agreement among heirs
  • Clear mandate for the person signing the quote
  • Contract cancellations (water, gas, electricity, internet)
  • Mail redirection (bpost 6 months)
  • Home insurance maintained until key handover

🗂️ D-14: physical preparation

  • Centralised "documents" room (papers to keep)
  • Clearly labelled "sentimental items" room
  • Photo pre-sort of art / jewellery for remote appraisal
  • Keys, remotes, garage badges gathered
  • Access measurements (front door width, staircase, lift)

⚠️ E9 lead times: book early

In Brussels' 19 municipalities, booking E9 parking reservation signs takes 5 to 15 working days. Some municipalities (Ixelles, Saint-Gilles, Schaerbeek) are particularly busy at month-end.

🚛 D-7: Brussels logistics

  • Parking zone application (E9 signs) with the municipality
  • Furniture lift reservation if 3rd floor or higher without a lift
  • Informing the building manager / concierge
  • Low-emission zone (LEZ) check for the vehicle
  • Crew arrival time confirmed

✅ D-day

  • Contact person present at start and end of the job
  • Before / after photo walkthrough
  • Meter readings
  • Completion slip and destruction certificate signed
